Our friend Jonah is battling ALD
Jonah was recently diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare condition that affects the brain and adrenal glands. After months of unexplained changes and several early misdiagnoses, genetic testing finally brought answers. Jonah has a form of cerebral ALD and recently underwent a bone marrow transplant. He is currently in recovery, with more treatment and therapy still ahead. Jonah is strong, brave, and surrounded by love.

What Is ALD?
According to MedlinePlus Genetics: Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a rare, inherited genetic disorder that affects the nervous system and adrenal glands. In ALD, the body can’t properly break down very long-chain fatty acids, causing them to build up and damage the protective myelin sheath around nerve cells and the adrenal glands. This can affect how the brain and body communicate and how hormones are made.
